- Currency: The currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD); cards are accepted in hotels, larger restaurants and shops in cities, but carry cash for markets, small shops, tips, Bedouin sites and rural areas. ATMs are available in towns and cities, and it is wise to carry some Dinars for the desert and Petra
