FAQs

Thailand Travel FAQs

Everything travellers usually ask us before booking a Thailand holiday.

What is the best time to visit Thailand?
November to February is the cool, dry and most comfortable season nationwide. March to May is hot, and June to October is the rainy season with short daily downpours and better prices. Note that the Gulf islands (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) have a different pattern and are wettest in November.
How many days should I spend in Thailand?
A week covers Bangkok plus one beach or Chiang Mai. Ten to fourteen days lets you combine Bangkok, the north and the islands, which is the classic route.
Do I need a visa for Thailand?
Many nationalities can enter visa-free or obtain a visa on arrival for short tourist stays, and Thailand has periodically extended visa exemptions for certain countries, including India. Rules change often, so please verify the current position before travel or ask our team.
Which Thai islands should I choose?
Phuket and Krabi for variety, resorts and easy access; Koh Phi Phi for dramatic scenery; Koh Samui and Koh Phangan for the Gulf coast; Koh Lanta and Koh Chang for quieter, slower beaches.
Is Thailand safe for tourists?
Yes, Thailand is very well set up for tourism and violent crime against visitors is rare. Watch for scams (gem shops, tuk-tuk detours, jet-ski damage claims), take care on scooters, and be sensible with valuables.
How expensive is Thailand?
It is one of the best-value destinations anywhere. Street food, local transport and mid-range hotels are cheap, while world-class luxury resorts are available at prices well below Europe or the Maldives.
What are the must-do experiences in Thailand?
Bangkok Grand Palace and Wat Pho, a longtail boat through the klongs, Chiang Mai temples and an ethical elephant sanctuary, a Thai cooking class, island-hopping in Phang Nga Bay, and a night market food crawl.
Is Thai food too spicy?
It can be, but almost everything can be made mild. Learn "mai phet" (not spicy). There is also plenty of naturally gentle food such as pad thai, khao soi, mango sticky rice and coconut-based curries.
What should I wear at temples in Thailand?
Shoulders and knees must be covered and shoes are removed before entering. Carry a light scarf or sarong. Never climb on Buddha images, and treat all images of the Buddha respectfully.
Is Thailand good for families?
Very good. Beaches are calm in the right season, resorts have kids clubs, and there are elephant sanctuaries, water parks, safari parks and easy day trips. Thais are famously welcoming to children.
Can I drink the tap water in Thailand?
No. Bottled water is cheap and everywhere. Ice at reputable venues is commercially produced and generally safe.
How do I get around Thailand?
Cheap domestic flights link Bangkok with Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi; overnight trains and buses cover longer routes; ferries and speedboats serve the islands. Our packages include private transfers and internal flights where needed.
What is the currency in Thailand?
The Thai baht (THB). Cards are widely accepted in hotels, malls and larger restaurants, but street food, markets, tuk-tuks and small islands are cash-first. ATMs are everywhere but charge a withdrawal fee.
Is Thailand good for honeymoons?
Yes. Private-pool villas in Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui, sunset cruises, couples spa rituals and beachfront dinners make it a superb, great-value honeymoon.
Can you customise a Thailand package?
Yes. Mix Bangkok, Chiang Mai and any islands you like, adjust the pace and hotel category, and add Cambodia, Vietnam or Singapore. Tell us your dates and budget and we will build it.
